Christmas in the Marianas this Saturday, December 16 at the Paseo de Marianas
Calling all students, staff, and parents to come down and support the POLKSAI Chamorro
Club and MHS MY WAVE CLUB by joining the PARADE!!
Students must get dropped off at the fishing base (across Christo Rai church) by 4:30pm
and to be picked-up at the Paseo around 7pm. Attire to wear is their blue or yellow MHS
shirts that were given to the students in the beginning of the school year. If none, any blue
or yellow shirt is fine. Administration, teachers, staff, and your families are more than
welcome to join us in the parade. The more, the merrier!

Bunts-Anderson, Villarmero win App Challenge
Twenty two students from the Northern Marianas entered this year's Congressional App
Challenge, competing as individuals or teams of up to four. Thirteen apps were submitted
with selection of the winning entries made by tech industry experts. From these
submissions, The Student Companion, by Daniel Villarmero and Chenoa Bunts-Anderson
of Marianas High School, was chosen as this year’s winner. Mount Carmel School
students Joanie Paraiso, Tawnie Manibusan and Cassidy Torres took second and third
place for their apps The Thought Bubble and Pocket Homework, respectively. The App
Challenge is open to all elementary and secondary students and is intended to encourage
student creativity and participation in the fields of science, technology, engineering and
mathematics, or STEM.

The purpose of the Pacific STEP-UP Program is to give disadvantaged high school
students the opportunities to engage in hypothesis-based scientific research, with hopes
that the experience will stimulate interest to pursue careers in health sciences. The
STEP-UP High School Interns are either graduated Seniors or Juniors who will enter

Earn while you learn! If you're a Junior or Senior, sign up for the 4th period
Cooperative Training class next semester. It's the only class that gives you a $300

Join the LEEP PROGRAM (Law Enforcement Explorer Program).
The program offers trainings and many activities including: Assisting Officers in routine
traffic control, participating in range trainings, camping trips, road trips, Officer ride alongs,
Physical activities, etc.
Our MHS SRO OFFICER ERIC CEPEDA encourages all to open up and join as this
program could benefit you in the long run.
If you have questions about the LEEP program, feel free to visit Officer Cepeda at the SRO office in the main office building during your transition periods or during your lunch break. A mandatory meeting will be scheduled for those who wish to attend and must sign in at the SRO office.

quarter, your permit will be revoked.

Rocball Practice Games
Practice games will start at 12:00 pm until 12:20. There are 7 teams registered to play:
KMA (Kiss My Ace), Fam-Bam, Sam Da Soo, Watch & Learn, Regonize, Sajio, and NGU
(Never Give Up). If you want to learn how to play the game that changed the rules of
volleyball’s side-out system of scoring to rally point and allowing players to kick
volleyballs, join a team or make up a Rocball team and register it with Mr. Feger. Rocball
is a “Best Practice Lesson Plan” from Saipan that is currently developing at the national
levels in India, Pakistan, and Basque Country in Europe. You will also get international
recognition via facebook.
The sport of Rocball which has been developing in the country of India over the last 5 or 6
years has improved its status among sports there. Rocball has been accepted in the
Haryana Olympic Association under the development of the Rocball Amateur Federation

The Friends of the Arts’ Holiday Program: The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate
Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of A Christmas Carol
The Friends of the Arts will be presenting its annual holiday program on December 15, 16
and 17. The Friends of the Arts welcome all to come and enjoy their presentation of “The
Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of A
Christmas Carol.” The cast entertains the audience with a light-hearted comedy rendition
of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic that will be enjoyed by viewers of all ages.
This play, written by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin, will bring the holiday cheer and
laughter a little earlier than expected this year. The play will be held at the American
Memorial Park Visitor’s Center Auditorium. Show dates will be on December 15, 16, 17, all
starting at 7:00PM. Opening night admission is a canned or packaged food item that will
be donated to the Salvation Army. Tickets prices for the December 16 and 17 shows start
at $4 for Students, $6 for FOA Members, and $8 for Adults! You may purchase tickets at
Bridge Capital at their Front Desk. Food items can also be additionally donated at the
December 15th and 16th shows.
